Printing in Arda
Arda generates three types of printable output: Kanban cards, shelf labels, and breadcrumbs. Each serves a different purpose in the physical replenishment system.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”Two things must be in place before printing works:
- At least one Kanban card must be created for an item.
- Pop-up windows must be allowed for
live.app.arda.cards. Arda opens print PDFs in new windows. If your browser blocks pop-ups, prints will silently fail. See How to Disable Pop-up Blockers.
Print Template Types
Section titled “Print Template Types”| Template | Purpose | Media |
|---|---|---|
| Cards | Physical Kanban cards that travel with inventory through the replenishment cycle | Index card size |
| Labels | Fixed to shelves or bins to identify storage locations | Avery 8.5x11 sheet |
| Breadcrumbs | Restocking pointers showing where items belong when received | Avery 8.5x11 sheet |
How to Print a Single Item

- Click the Print icon or button.
- Choose the template type: Card, Label, or Breadcrumb.
- A PDF opens in a new pop-up window.

How to Print in Bulk
Section titled “How to Print in Bulk”- Select multiple items using the checkboxes in the Items list.
- Click Bulk Print.
- Choose the template type.
- The system generates a multi-page PDF formatted for Avery 8.5x11 sheets.
- Print on the appropriate media.
- Use Tray 2 on the HP 9135E for index cards and Tray 1 for label sheets. See HP 9135E Printer Setup.
- Laminate Kanban cards after printing. Laminated cards survive being handled, dropped, and scanned for years. The Arda Quickstart Kit includes a laminator.
- Print breadcrumbs for any item that gets restocked by someone other than the person who picks it. Breadcrumbs prevent misplaced stock.
- Run a test print after loading a new tray to confirm alignment before a bulk job.
