Printing in Arda

Arda generates three types of printable output: Kanban cards, shelf labels, and breadcrumbs. Each serves a different purpose in the physical replenishment system.

Two things must be in place before printing works:

  1. At least one Kanban card must be created for an item.
  2. Pop-up windows must be allowed for live.app.arda.cards. Arda opens print PDFs in new windows. If your browser blocks pop-ups, prints will silently fail. See How to Disable Pop-up Blockers.

  • Use Tray 2 on the HP 9135E for index cards and Tray 1 for label sheets. See HP 9135E Printer Setup.
  • Laminate Kanban cards after printing. Laminated cards survive being handled, dropped, and scanned for years. The Arda Quickstart Kit includes a laminator.
  • Print breadcrumbs for any item that gets restocked by someone other than the person who picks it. Breadcrumbs prevent misplaced stock.
  • Run a test print after loading a new tray to confirm alignment before a bulk job.
