Orders with Lifecycle

Status: design complete — team review requested.

Orders with Lifecycle replaces today’s client-side purchase-order sheet with a durable, lifecycle-managed order: a lasting record that collates production demand into a single-supplier commitment, is negotiated with the supplier through submission and acknowledgment, and is reconciled against materials as they arrive. This project directory holds the reviewed design for that order, in plain language, for stakeholder and engineering review.

  • Goal — the business goal, success criteria, and non-goals. Start here.
  • Design — the reviewed design: entities, the lifecycle state machine, the demand relationship, received-quantity reconciliation, and the module boundaries. Includes the structure, the submit flow, and the lifecycle diagrams.
  • Decisions — the key decisions in plain language (why order-side holds, why draft-only cancel, why computed open quantities, why the supplier freezes at submit), and the research that shaped them.
  • Atlas — the navigable map of the implementation: every Linear ticket and pull request, the PR stack and its merge order, and which decision each increment implements.
