HP 9135E Printer Setup and Configuration

The HP 9135E is the recommended printer for the Arda Quickstart Kit. Its dual-tray design lets you keep index cards in one tray and standard paper in the other, so you can print Kanban cards and labels without swapping media.

  1. Follow HP’s standard setup instructions for Wi-Fi or USB connection.
  2. Install HP drivers from hp.com/support.
  1. Load pre-cut index cards into Tray 2.
  2. In your printer settings, set the Tray 2 paper type to Index Card or Cardstock.
  3. Adjust the paper guides to fit the card dimensions snugly — loose guides cause misfeeds.
  1. Load standard 8.5x11 paper into Tray 1.
  2. Set Tray 1 paper type to Plain Paper for Avery label sheets.
  1. In printer preferences, set the default paper source to Automatic.
  2. This lets the printer select the correct tray based on each print job without manual intervention.
  • Keep a small stock of replacement index cards near the printer so you can refill quickly.
  • Physically label both trays (e.g., “Cards” and “Paper”) so all team members know which tray holds what.
  • Run a single test print after any tray refill to confirm alignment before a bulk job.
  • Index cards cause jams: Verify the paper type setting matches the loaded media. Very thick cards may require manual feed.
  • Labels print misaligned: Confirm Tray 1 is set to Plain Paper (not Index Card) when printing Avery sheets.
  • Prints fail silently from Arda: Check that pop-up blockers are disabled. See How to Disable Pop-up Blockers.
