QR-Lookup Item

Notes

When a user scans a QR code with a browser or camera app, they cannot choose what action to take. All necessary information must be included in the URL. In the current Arda system, based on the Coda implementation, the current action is to display the item with a series of potential controls for different follow-up actions. This use case follows that pattern.

In the future, the QR code may contain also information on the specific card scanned. Cards are separate from Items and from Inventory in the new system. This separation opens the possibility to have a different default action when scanning a QR code directly into the browser address bar or camera app. For example, it could bring information about the status of the card, its last known location, etc. These upgrades are not part of the current scope.

Steps

  1. User Scans QR Code into browser address bar or mobile camera app.
  2. Mobile device or browser attempt to open the URL in the QR code.
  3. If the user is not logged in, it is redirected to the sign-in use case and upon success redirected to the original requested URL

    a. The system presents the “Card View/Action” page in the browser.

  4. The User takes any action available in that page.

  5. If the User uses a “Close”, “Home” or “Cancel” actions, it is sent to their dashboard page.
